The Stags men's lacrosse season may not have ended the way they would have liked, but one Fairfield senior earned something no other Stags player has. Standout midfielder Greg Downing was selected sixth overall in the Major League Lacrosse Draft on May 31 by the Los Angeles Riptide.
Downing earned Honorable Mention All-American status for the fourth straight season this past year and is the only multiple time winner in Stags lacrosse history. He finished his Fairfield career fourth all-time in goals with 101, scoring 20 or more each season. He also finished in the top-10 all-time in assists and points, with 40 career assists and 141 points.
The Riptide are a Western Conference team, finishing the 2006 season with a 6-6 record. This season they are already off to a fast-start, with a 2-1 record. Downing has not yet seen action for the Riptide.
